As every year, we have once again decided not to send out Christmas cards. Instead, we symbolically donate ten francs for each of our customers to the Community Initiative Academya school in Sierra Leone (total CHF 2,690).

Our colleague Nadine Mösch has been friends with Noemi Schramm since childhood. Noemi worked as a health economist for the government of Sierra Leone for eight years, during which time she set up a support association for the Academy.

The Community Initiative Academy (CIA) is a secondary school in Nyandeyama, in the east of Sierra Leone, a five-hour drive from the capital. The school was founded in 2010 by community leaders because there was no secondary school in the village. Since 2015, a group of Swiss citizens has been supporting the school with monthly financial contributions to pay the teachers a small salary and build up the infrastructure. In the last eight years, the school has grown from 150 pupils to 1300 pupils, and the school is one of the best schools in the country every year. All donations reach Sierra Leone directly and without complications, 100% of them, and give many children a future.
